Why a contract beats calling when it breaks

Most companies call us when something has already failed. Understandable, but it is the most expensive way to run a forklift. A breakdown always comes at the wrong moment: with a lorry at the dock, or on Friday afternoon when the orders must go out. You then pay for the repair and for the standstill.

Preventive maintenance moves that moment to a time that suits you. A technician who goes through the machine twice a year sees a stretching chain, a weeping cylinder or a fading battery before the machine stops over it. That is usually a small job instead of an expensive one.

There is an administrative side too, and for international sites it matters more than people think: with a contract, we track when your statutory inspections expire. Nobody at your site needs to keep a Dutch legal deadline in a calendar, and an inspection never silently lapses between staff changes.

The three contract forms

BSB Inspection, from €125 per machine per year

The basic form: only the annual statutory inspection. We plan the visit, inspect on site and deliver the certificate and condition report. Repairs and maintenance fall outside it and are charged at the hourly rate.

A good fit for low-hours fleets, or when you do maintenance in-house and only want the inspection off your plate.

BSB Maintenance, from €595 per electric machine per year

The most chosen form. It includes:

• two maintenance services a year;
• the annual statutory inspection, certificate and condition report included;
• call-outs, at this contract we charge no call-out fee.

During a service we work through the machine systematically: hydraulics and cylinders for leaks, chains for stretch and lubrication, brakes and steering, tyres and rollers, electrical connections, battery and charging behaviour, safety devices. Filters and lubricants are replaced on schedule. Parts are charged separately, and you hear the price before we fit them.

The rate applies to electric machines. Combustion engines cost more, engine maintenance comes on top, and we quote those per situation.

BSB Complete, on request

Fully covered: maintenance, inspection, breakdowns and parts in one fixed amount per machine per year. You call when something fails and no invoice follows. This is tailor-made, because the price depends on your fleet, the operating hours and the conditions. A truck in a cold store or a dusty yard simply wears faster than one in a clean distribution centre.

Interesting from about five machines, especially for companies that want maintenance costs they can budget without spikes.

Rates outside a contract

• Hourly rate from €85, for repairs and work outside the contract.
• Call-out from €49, within our service area. Waived under BSB Maintenance and BSB Complete.

Prices exclude VAT. Parts are charged at cost plus a margin, with the price quoted up front, not discovered on the invoice.

How it runs

We start with a survey: which machines, what condition, how many hours. Often combined with a first inspection, so we know immediately where we stand. Then you get a proposal with the form that fits.

Once the contract runs, we contact you when a service or inspection is due. If something breaks in between, the breakdown service picks it up, and the technician knows what was last done to the machine. If maintenance shows the traction battery is the weak link, and with electric trucks it is more often than people think, our specialists take it up through the battery service.

Forklifts, reach trucks, stackers, electric pallet trucks, order pickers and aerial platforms, all brands. We maintain machines you did not buy from us, that is the rule rather than the exception. Loading docks, racking, ladders and chargers are covered in the same visit.
