Calling works faster than a form

In a breakdown, a form is the wrong tool. We want to know what the machine does, which brand it is and whether it still drives. Those are three questions answered on the phone in half a minute. Often we can tell from that what it likely is, and sometimes we solve it on the phone without anyone driving out.

Can it wait until tomorrow, or is it planned work? Then the request form is fine (it is in Dutch, we reply in English). For anything standing still right now: call.

What to have ready when you call

• Brand, type and serial number. On the type plate, usually on the frame near the driver's seat.
• The hour meter reading. It says a lot about what is likely going on.
• What happens. Nothing at all, or something odd? An error code on the display is gold, read it out or send a photo by WhatsApp.
• Whether it still drives. Decides whether we come to the machine or you can move it somewhere workable.
• Where it stands. Inside, outside, in a cold store, between the racking: it determines what the technician brings.

What we repair

Most work falls into a few areas. Hydraulics: leaking cylinders, worn hoses, a pump without pressure, a mast that sinks under load. Drive and brakes: traction motors, carbon brushes, brake linings, parking brake. Electrics: wiring, contactors, switches, displays, error codes and controller faults. Steering, wheels, rollers and bearings. And the small regulars: lights, horn, emergency stop, seat switch.

With electric trucks, a large share of the reports that arrive as "the machine has no power any more" turn out to be the battery, not the truck. That is why we made it a specialism of its own: replacing a truck because the battery is worn is an expensive mistake.

What you can check before calling

Part of the reports are no defect at all. Three things checked in a minute that are surprisingly often the cause.

The emergency stop and the seat switch. A pressed emergency stop or a seat switch that does not engage shuts the whole machine down without any error message. Stand up, sit down again, and pull the emergency stop out.

The battery plug and charge level. A plug that is not fully seated looks exactly like an empty battery. And a truck that sags mid-afternoon usually has a battery problem, not a truck problem.

The key switch and the display. Is there a code? Note it literally or send a photo by WhatsApp. With an error code, the technician often knows which part to bring, and that can save a second trip.

What it costs

• Hourly rate from €85, counted from arrival, in half-hour units.
• Call-out from €49 within the service area, per visit. Waived under a maintenance contract BSB Maintenance or BSB Complete.

Excluding VAT. Parts come on top, and you hear their price before we order, not when the invoice arrives. If the repair turns out bigger than estimated, the technician calls first. You decide.

When repair no longer makes sense

Sometimes the honest outcome is that repairing no longer pays. With high hours and several worn main components at once, the bill can pass the residual value. We say so, even though it talks us out of a job. We trade in used machines, so our stock often holds a replacement that beats repairing on, and if your operation must keep running meanwhile, an interim solution is negotiable.
